Title: Future-Proof Students: A Framework Powered by Experiential Learning

Abstract:

It is estimated that by 2033 A.I. and automation will do 40 to 50 percent of today’s jobs. To add value to tomorrow’s A.I.-driven economy, students need to develop the right skills today. This talk presents a framework for equipping students with the necessary skills to succeed in an A.I.-driven economy. First, I present a student future-proofing framework anchored on developing technical and emotional intelligence skills powered by experiential learning. Secondly, I discuss the emotional intelligence skills that enable the first and last mile of successful analytics projects and promote life-long learning. Further, as the economy becomes more A.I. driven, I posit that emotional intelligence skills will increase in importance. Thirdly, to promote active learning and engagement, I review strategies to drive experiential learning across all class modalities. Throughout the talk, I also explore active learning strategies that enable instructors to meet students of different learning preferences and cultural backgrounds where they are.
