Amazon (led by Kevin Davis, Director Alexa AI Knowledge and Lead of the Amazon Santa Barbara site) recently made another substantial gift to UCSB. A portion of the funding will support four student top-off fellowships administered by the Department of Statistics and Applied Probability. The funding is earmarked to make the most competitive offers to PhD students pursuing applied research that involves computational and machine learning methods, and to support the increasing diversity of our graduate program. This is the second year of the UCSB-Amazon SB partnership, which also involves the Center for Responsible AI in the CS Dept.
