Assistant Professor Dr. Ruimeng Hu joins us from Columbia U where she was a Term Assistant Professor in the Dept of Statistics. She will have a joint appointment with the UCSB Department of Mathematics. Dr. Hu is a PSTAT graduate alumna, having defended her dissertation in our Dept in 2018. Her research program is at the intersection of machine learning, financial mathematics, and game theory.

 

Assistant Teaching Professor Dr. Uma Ravat joins us from U of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she was a Lecturer in the Dept of Statistics. Dr. Ravat will contribute to our instructional mission, especially in terms of gateway courses in Probability and Data Science. She received her PhD from UIUC in 2014 and specializes in financial risk management.

 

Assistant Professor Dr. Guo (Hugo) Yu joins us from U of Washington Seattle where he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Dept of Statistics. Dr. Guo works on statistical learning problems and received his PhD from Cornell in 2018.
