Statistics PhD student Mingzhao Hu was awarded the Research Accelerator award of $8000 by UCSB Graduate Division as part of the "2020 Summer Minigrants for Multidisciplinary Research on COVID-19" program.

This spring, seven of PSTAT graduating seniors have been invited to join the Phi Beta Kappa organization.

The Department of Statistics and Applied Probability has selected the following three exceptional students for our annual Rama Thogarati Memorial Award.

Asst Prof. Mengyang Gu, in collaboration with co-PIs Somayeh Dodge (Geog), Ambuj Singh (CS) and  Mike Ludkovski (PSTAT) was awarded funding from the Office of Research VCR COVID-19 Seed Grants Program for a project on  “A data-driven approach to modeling the effects of non-pharmaceutical interventions in disease progression dynamics at varying geographic granularities”.

Assoc. Professor Tomoyuki Ichiba was recently awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) a research grant for the project "Large-Scale Interactions in Financial Markets" in the Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS).
