The Southern California Probability Symposium

About SCPS

The Southern California Probability Symposium (SCPS) is an annual event. Probabilists from Southern California and beyond have been gathering at the SCPS since its inception. Ted Harris (USC) founded the symposium in about 1970 to spur the exchange of ideas and foster research collaborations within the region. This annual gathering has contributed to the development of a vibrant community of probabilists in Southern California, and continues to serve as an exciting place for interactions.

Amber Puha (California State University San Marcos) is the current coordinator. The annual scientific organizational duties rotate amongst the probability groups at the following five prominent Southern California research universities: California Institute of Technology, University of California Irvine, University of California Los Angeles, University of California Santa Barbara, University of California San Diego, and University of Southern California.

Mailing List

The Southern California Probability Symposium maintains a mailing list to allow dissemination of information about the symposium. Only the administrator of the list can post messages. Subscribers can expect no more than five messages per year. The current administrator of the SCPS list is Amber Puha.

The list is open to all interested individuals, so feel free to invite colleagues to subscribe. Information about the list, including instructions for subscription (or unsubscription) can be found here. The list has been created as an IMS Group — a service of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. See the IMS Group mailing lists for general information about IMS mailing lists. These lists use the mailman package and allow users to subscribe, unsubscribe, or edit their settings via the web. Safeguards are in place to prevent their use by spammers.
