UCSB Storke Tower

Located on the Pacific coast, UC Santa Barbara has one of the largest actuarial programs in the nation, graduating each year over a hundred BS in Actuarial Science Majors, as well as more than dozen BS/MS students. Hosted by the Department of Statistics & Applied Probability, our program enjoys synergies between traditional actuarial research and the latest trends in data science, machine learning and computational statistics. In particular, our faculty are working on a range of problems in predictive analytics and quantitative modeling in healthcare insurance, longevity risk, and risk management.

The UCSB InsurTech Summit series of workshops started in 2019 as a forum for academics and practitioners working on applications of Data Science in Insurance. The one-day event is hosted by UCSB and acts as a regional hub for InsurTech research and industry, including as a Continuing Education credit opportunity for actuaries. The slate of speakers includes thought leaders in the broad arena of InsurTech encompassing the intersection of Data Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, and Entrepreneurship. For the fourth Summit in 2023 the focus themes are Cyber Risk and Health and Wellness.

The 2023 Summit is back to in-person format on the beautiful UCSB campus in Santa Barbara, taking place at Betty Elings Wells Pavilion inside The Club at UCSB. Registration is Free and includes lunch and afternoon reception. We welcome practicing actuaries, data scientists, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students.
